"6/7" for String Orchestra (Max Mueller)
Shamelessly capitalizing on the non sequitur made popular by Generation Alpha, "6/7" gives students the experience (or consequences according to some teachers) to perform with the mixed meter of 6/8 + 7/8, or comparable meters where the beats comprise of a group of 6 beats followed by 7 beats. Students will also discover that the primary melody comprises of a minor 6th, a minor 7th, a major 6th and a major 7th. Beyond the meter and the melodic intervals, the piece contains many other 6/7 'Easter eggs' (including ones that the composer may not even be aware of!). If your students are out of control saying "6/7" endlessly, this piece will give you the respite you need while the students end up playing "6/7" instead.
